Memories

Elias Naim

BS ’23

LAU was an incredible place for personal and professional growth, providing a supportive environment that fostered leadership and innovation. One experience from my campus days that has stayed with me all this time is serving as the president of the Student Council.
I had the privilege of working closely with two remarkable individuals who had a profound impact on my journey: Vice President Elise Salem and Ms. Riman Jurdak, the student life project manager. Their unwavering support and guidance were instrumental to help us achieve so much. Dr. Salem always encouraged us to think big and pursue ambitious projects, while Ms. Jurdak provided invaluable insights and logistical support, ensuring our initiatives were successful and impactful.
The collaborative spirit and dedication of the entire LAU community during my presidency not only shaped my leadership skills but also instilled in me a deep sense of responsibility and a passion for service. This experience taught me the importance of teamwork, resilience, and the power of a supportive community — all lessons that I carry with me to this day.
Reflecting on my time at LAU, I am immensely grateful for the growth opportunities and the wonderful memories created. It was a period of transformation that was filled with challenges and triumphs, all of which contributed significantly to the person I am today, as I continue to serve as the vice president of the University Scholarship Program (USP) Alumni Chapter.
